Dr. Grace Jun's journey began in Lawton, Oklahoma, where she was raised in modest circumstances. Her college trajectory commenced with a full dance scholarship to the University of Oklahoma and the University of Central Oklahoma. During these formative years, she unexpectedly discovered a profound affinity for mission work that would shape her path. Venturing to Moscow and Mexico, she witnessed the global spectrum of suffering, igniting within her a resolute commitment to alleviate the plight of individuals worldwide.
While her husband participated in a dental/medical mission trip, Dr. Jun observed a revelation: dentists held the key to immediate pain relief for countless individuals, especially in underprivileged areas lacking advanced medical technologies. Eager to experience this impact firsthand, she embarked on her inaugural dental mission, initially serving as an "instrument sterilizer." During this transformative journey, she grasped dentistry's unparalleled capacity to provide swift solace, particularly through extractions, to people who had journeyed for hours under the scorching sun, enduring hours of waiting. The profound gift of dentistry's healing touch inspired her.
Fueled by this revelation, Dr. Grace Jun promptly enrolled at the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry. Graduating with honors in Removable Prosthodontics and earning the International Congress of Oral Implantologists Award, she emerged ready to make a significant impact. However, her encounters with Corporate Dentistry (Dental Service Organizations - DSO) unveiled a disheartening trend: the commodification of dentistry by corporations, eroding the nobility of the profession. This realization compelled her to pursue a different course.
Believing that dentistry's essence lies in personalized, locally owned practices, Dr. Jun embarked on a mission to restore the care, integrity, and professionalism she deemed indispensable. She ardently advocates for private, small-scale dental practices, championing the heightened standards of service, responsibility, and patient rapport that come when the practicing dentist is also the practice owner.
Dr. Grace Jun remains deeply engaged in academic study clubs and technology advancements, embracing dentistry's ever-evolving landscape. With a commitment to perfection and an abundance of knowledge, she approaches her craft with unwavering dedication.
